Jordan Perrin was spotted asleep at the wheel by Stafford County Deputy C.C. Crossett on Courage Lane around 8:20 p.m., the sheriff's office said in a release.

Perrin, of Ruther Glenn, admitted to drinking beer prior to driving and admitted his license had been revoked due to a prior incident involving alcohol.

What he didn’t admit was that he was wanted out of Caroline County for a felony probation violation. When Deputy Crossett discovered this, he asked Perrin to step out of the vehicle. Instead, Perrin accelerated down Courage Lane, authorities said.

Crossett gave chase in his cruiser as he radioed to nearby units to block off any escape routes. Perrin got out on foot on Harmony Court and Crossett continued to give chase, now on foot, but right before he could stop the fleeing felon, several citizens jumped in to detain the suspect, the sheriff's office said. Perrin was arrested without further incident.

Perrin apologized for his actions and advised he “acted without thinking.” While an apology was appreciated, it would not prevent him from spending time at Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Perrin was charged with fourth offense driving under the influence within ten years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, third offense driving with a revoked license, driving after forfeiture of his license, eluding police, and obstruction of justice. He was also served on his outstanding warrant and held without bond.
